IWWF World Wakeboard Championships Buenos Aires, Argentina (18-24/03/2018) 20th March 2018 – Competition Day 2
The Masters Men took to the water first thing in the morning, behind the Centurion Ri23 (https://centurionboats.com/boats/ri237/). Winning their heats to advance to the semi-finals were USA’s Adam Money, Jorge Garizurieta (MEX) and former IWWF Wakeboard World Cup riders: Luca Langlois (FRA), Marcello Giardi (BRA) and hometown hero Alejo De Palma (ARG). One notable performance came from Team USA’s Adam Fields, 2009 IWWF World Open Men’s Champion and now competing in Masters Men, who managed to advance to the semi-finals on a borrowed set of equipment after having issues with his personal gear. Three out of six Argentinian riders also advanced to the Masters Men’s semi-finals, the beginning of a good day for the host country.
The Junior Men’s category had on show riders of a very high level with Elliot Digney (AUS) landing a KGB 540 in his run to help him advance to the next round of competition. The Argentinian Ditsch brothers, who just turned 18 years old today, both won their respective heats, together with Maxime Cadoux (FRA) and Luca Kidd (GBR) achieving the same top placement. Australia’s Sam Brown, 2015 IWWF Under 14-Boys Champion and now competing in Junior Men, also advanced to the semi-finals.
