25th July 2022

150 riders from 22 countries will compete in the 2022 IWWF World Wakeboard Championships in Rieti, Italy this week from 25th to 30th July 2022.

Riders will take to the water today to compete for IWWF World titles in ten age-group categories for both men and women (14 & Under, 18 & Under, 30 & Over, 40 & Over and Open) and team overall titles.  The event will offer a USD50,000.00 cash purse to riders competing in the Open Men’s & Women’s category.

Defending Team Overall Champions, Australia will be looking to make it three wins in a row by fielding a very strong team of riders including 2019 IWWF Open Men's Champion and The World Games 2022 Gold Medalist Nic Rapa and 2017 IWWF Open Women's Champion Bec Gange.   Also selected to compete are Josh Sanders (Veteran Men), Dean Smith (Masters Men) and Amber Smith (Masters Women), who won Open Women in 2003, competing in their respective age-group categories.

Italy who won the Team Overall title in 2015, will be looking to do so again on home soil with 2015 IWWF Open Men's Champion, Massimiliano Piffaretti, and 2019 IWWF OpenWomen's Champion, Alice Virag, on its Team.

The 2022 Centurion Ri230 will be the Official Towboat of the event.
