Not many have held a position of such importance for as long as Bob Corson (USA) who served 40 years (1978 to 2019) as a member of IWWF’s Waterski Council.
Elected to IWWF’s Waterski Council (then known as the IWSF Tournament Council) on 1st. September 1978, Bob served continuously till 2019. In 1979 he was elected chairman of the Waterski Council, and except for a three-year period from 1981 to 1984, he was the council chairman till his final term.
Bob was not only responsible for the world waterski rules but also personally created and maintained the World Waterski Rankings List, worked on the introduction of standards for boat speed control, electronic jump measuring devices, and many other innovations. He also created and maintained the IWWF’s (then IWSF) web site for many years .
In addition, Bob has been a qualified international judge, and, as such, served as Chief Judge for the World Championships in Villach, Austria in 1991. It would be impossible to count the number of times Bob has homologated World and other major international competitions.
Whilst Bob, who was also inducted into the IWWF International Hall of Fame in 2003, is no longer a member of the IWWF Waterski Council he continues to assist them in many areas.
At the request of the IWWF Waterski Council, it is the IWWF’s pleasure to announce that Bob Corson has been presented the IWWF’s President’s Award for all the years of good service.
