Day#4 of the 2018 IWWF Europe & Africa Wakeboard Championships at Borgo San Pietro, Lago del Saltosaw saw the heavy hitters take to the water behind the 2018 X-Star, Mastercraft’s flagship wakeboard towboat, competing for a place in Saturday’s finals.
Jamie Huser (SUI) and Igor Colombo (ITA) put on exceptional performances to show one of them is the favourite for the Boys category. Both riders won their respective heats with impressive runs and managed to place themselves, points wise, way above other riders in their category.
The much-anticipated showdown in the Junior Men’s final between current IWWF World Junior Men’s Champion Luca Kidd (GBR) and current IWWF World Boys Champion Maxime Roux (FRA) will be one of Saturday’s highlights with both riders winning their semi-final heats to advance.
In the Open Men’s semi-finals, 2017 World Games Champion Guy Firer (ISR), Nicolò Caimi (ITA), Georgy Khudnitskiy (RUS) placed 1st, 2nd & 3rd in Heat 1 to advance to the final. Heat 2 saw two Germans, one Italian, one Irish and a Rusian rider battling inout for three places in the final. Paul Johnston (IRL) despite being one of the favourites to advance fell twice in his run and didn’t manage to advance. Nikita Maryanov (RUS), Ariano Blanik (GER) recent IWWF Jordan Ayla Cable Wakeboard World Cup stop winner, and Lorenzo Soprano (ITA) were the riders advancing to the final.
