The IWWF today announced the qualifying countries to compete in the 2019 Pan American Games‘ wakeboard medal disciplines:
Peru – host country
* Equador will be given a spot if Peru does not enter an athlete
The 2018 IWWF Pan American Wakeboard Championships held in México this past weekend was one of the qualifying events. The 2019 Pan American Games will bring approximately 6,700 athletes together, will feature 39 sports and 62 disciplines between July 26th and August 11th (waterski & wakeboard events to be held 27th to 30th July 2019) . The Pan American Games are the second largest multi-sport event, gathering the 41 National Olympic Committees that make up PanamSports.
The first edition of the Pan American Games dates from 1951 in the city of Buenos Aires (Argentina) and had the participation of 22 countries competing in 18 sports. Although the Pan American Games have been held in a dozen countries in the Americas, it is the first time that Peru will organize an event of this importance. The Statute of the Pan American Sports Organization stipulates that the Pan American Gamesmust be held every four years, a mandate that has been fulfilled uninterruptedly since 1951 until now. In order to participate at these Games all countries must be represented by a National Olympic Committee (NOC) recognized by the IOC and affiliated with PanamSports. Competing athletes must be born in the country they represent and comply with the requirements established by the PanamSports Statute and the International Federations/Pan American Confederations of each sport, if applicable.
